Flagline

I've been looking all over Copenhagen to source Flagline but alas it's not something that is readily available. Luckily, a fellow Danish student, Elina, had worked with another student who worked with flagline before (At the bottom of this page). He had sourced it from the factory, Århus Possementfabrik A/S. Unfortunately I called but they are on summer vacation.

[Update 8/17/2011: They contacted me back! But alas the project is done.]

Pyhän Laurin Kappeli - Sankt Lars Kapell - Chapel of St. Lawrence

The last tour on the last day of our trip to Helsinki, we visited Pyhän Laurin Kappeli - Sankt Lars Kapell. Although it was not on our official itinerary, we were guided through the building by Kai Korhonen, one of the designers responsible furnishing the chapel. These pictures may not convey this but the chapel succeeds in reconciling the emotional needs of mourners with the pragmatic demands of funerals. Design: Avanto Arkkitehdit Ltd / Ville Hara and Anu Puustinen Location: Vantaa, Finland

Randomly Through Helsinki

After landing at Turku, we walked around the the river for a little bit before heading on to Korhonen (The Factory that makes a lot of Alvar Aalto's Furniture - For example, the black stools at the Apple Store Genius Bar). Docked on the river was a boat that had this logo... I like Finish graphic design.

... perhaps seals in particular, as I came across this:

Here are some other random photos I took in Helsinki.

And if you ever want to eat at the market in Kauppatori, be careful of the seagulls. They like to swoop down and steal people's food.

On the way to Helsinki...

We crossed the Gulf of Bothnia from Stockholm to Turku by ferry. With all the excitement of visiting new places, I was awake early enough to catch the sunrise before 4am.
